How to Plan a Really Big Deal Ski Traverse

Don’t know about you, but here at AJ HQ we kinda geek out about trip planning. Heck, we’ve planned trips we couldn’t even go on just for the fun and the exercise of it. The more risk an adventure takes on, the more intricate the planning becomes. Food, fuel, shelter, backup plans, plans B, C, and D for those backup plans, etc. It’s when you sit in front of a map and begin to sketch out the possible that a trip takes it’s first baby step. Cody Townsend’s series of ski expeditions, The Fifty, is a logistically heavy project involving hours and hours of study, what ifs, imagining the worst, taking that into account, and finally putting together the Big Plan. Here’s how he does it.
