September still feels like summer in much of the US, but our feathered friends are already longing to head south. Many already are. Millions and millions more birds will take to the skies in the coming days, lured, driven, instinctually by cues telling them it’s time to head for warmer climes and brighter days.
The Cornell Ornithology Lab, a very big deal in the birding world, has made public and free a series of lectures and videos covering everything you ever wondered about bird migration. Through September 22, there are free webinars here, which you should absolutely avail yourself of. Understanding a bit more about what’s going on up there in that beautiful sky of ours deepens our connection with our animals friends and the entire ecosystem.
