Paddles Up: Ansel Adams Photos to Be Offered at Sotheby’s Auction

A wealthy curator of Ansel Adams work has put together a stunning collection of 100 of Adams’ prints that Sotheby’s will sell at auction on December 14. If you have several hundred thousand dollars burning a hole in your pocket, this is your chance to put it to work.

One of the pieces for sale, Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico, is expected to fetch between $700,000 and $1 million.

Grand Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming, 1942, (above) shot on commission for the Department of Interior, is expected to sell for between $400,000 and $700,000.

Some smaller prints are being offered starting at $5,000, which isn’t totally out of the question if you’ve always wanted to own something from the master himself.

You can peruse the offerings and, heck, bid if you want, at the Sotheby’s website.
