Warren Miller may have died in January 2018, but he will be synonymous with winter stoke for decades to come. He was the grand-daddy of the entire ski film industry, having produced over 500 movies in his lifetime. Everyone from TGR to the Deslauriers brothers to anyone who’s duct taped a GoPro to their helmet owes a nod to the man who started it all.
Warren Miller Entertainment continues to make the annual ski movie, which for many skiers is as much a beacon of winter as the first snowflake. And regardless of style or dad jokes or old school/new school critiques, the Warren Miller movies always ring in with an undeniable sense of joy. They shine with gratitude for how ridiculously lucky we are when we get to play in the mountains.
This year’s entry, Face of Winter, is the 69th film in the production company’s unbroken streak of annual winter kick-off movies. With Miller’s passing in January, it’s part ode to the man whose enthusiasm alone could remind that we’re fortunate when we get to follow our dreams.
