The Lostine river snakes through the Wallowa range in Oregon before being tripped up by a series of dams in the lowlands. Those dams have decimated the native Chinook salmon population, a story repeated up and down the west coast. But here, members of the Nez Perce tribe and farmers with land abutting the Lostine and working together in an encouraging effort to bring the fish back.
