Ben Lecomte swims unfathomably long distances in the ocean. Like, across the Atlantic long. He recently swam from Tokyo to San Francisco, a journey that took six months. Along the way, he swam through the giant circling swaths of plastic garbage floating in the sea. Unpleasant, but a reminder of what’s there, but also of the kind of grand incredible things people can accomplish. There’s a metaphor there somewhere.
