National Park Free Days in 2021
National parks are seeing an onslaught of visitors during the pandemic, with people who don’t normally spend much time outside suddenly realizing that with malls, bars, theaters, and restaurants closed, there’s, gosh, a whole wild world out there. Perhaps that doesn’t apply to you, but you have a building urge to pack a car and head for parks you’ve yet to visit.
Maybe some free entrance days can push you out the door?
Each year, the NPS designates a handful of days for free entrance, a way of saying thanks to the public for their generous showering of tax dollars. Here is the list of all six days, one more than last year, for 2021:
January 18, MLK Jr Day
April 17, which kicks off National Park Week
August 4, a celebration day commemorating the signing of the Great American Outdoors Act
August 25, Happy Birthday, NPS
September 25, National Public Lands Day
November 11, Veterans Day
