Rishiri is an island off the northeast coast of Hokkaido, Japan. A stratovolcano, the namesake peak, Rishiri, rises nearly 6,000 feet above the sea. Fierce Siberian winds blast the base of the mountain while snows dump on the high flanks, leading to technical ski runs thousands of feet long. In this short film, skiers Mary McIntyre and Parkin Costain travel with a small team of photographers and filmmakers to test themselves against the wind-guarded mountain.
