We’re really big fans of Alastair Humphreys here at AJ, a man making a modest career out of adventuring in every way possible. Big, polar, life-threatening adventures, and tiny, bite-sized, in your own backyard microadventures. Getting out, doing something a little different than your normal routine, embracing wilderness and the experience of living—these are all adventures for Humphreys. This short film chronicles his decision to help pay for a backpacking trip across Europe by playing his violin, even though he’s not exactly an accomplished, or even much practiced, really, violinist. Inspired by Laurie Lee’s “As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning,” Humphreys steeled his courage and made a go of it.
