They’re everywhere in the San Francisco and Silicon Valley orbits. The Patagonia fleece vest, worn over a collared shirt, signifying wealth and power, usually branded with a logo of a tech or venture capitalist origin, often given out by companies as a team-building perk. Patagonia, however, has decided they will no longer sell vests to be slapped with branding by firms they see as harming the planet. A communications exec who tried to order a supply of the vests discovered Patagonia’s new policy when they rejected her request (her tweet is below). Patagonia will only sell branded vests to the companies on their same page of sustainability and environmentalism, focusing mostly on Certified B Corporations, 1% For The Planet members. VCs and tech bros will have to find their vests elsewhere.
