Back in 2017, drivers on the Gene Autry Trail road in the desert outside Palm Springs, California, were treated to a seriously cool series of billboard art installation pieces. The artist, Jennifer Bolande, installed photographs of the mountain views normally blocked by garish billboard advertisements on the billboards themselves. Called “Visible Distance/Second Sight” it was meant to be viewed at the speed of car travel. At certain points, the images lined up perfectly with the mountains in the distance. The images have since been removed, likely back to the ads for casinos, or Audis, or whatever they may be.
