I still have a globe in my house that was made in the 1950s. It’s the only thing I have left from after my grandparents passed away. It’s an elegant shade of beige, its slight relief worn smooth from me spinning it and letting my fingers run over the Sierra, the Himalaya, the Alps. I always wondered how it was made. Now I know. A handmade process involving a surprising amount of people and plaster. No idea if this is still done, or if globes are still being made. Mine is working just fine.
