At the beginning of 2018, two runners, Ryan Sandes and Ryno Griesel, set the FKT on the Great Himalaya Trail. They ran 1,504 kilometers in 25 days, 4 hours, and 24 minutes.

Their run included all sorts of unpleasantries. In addition to extreme exhaustion and frigid temperatures, they dealt with frostbite, a rash of injuries, and even a group of irate and dangerous gang members. They also pushed themselves ceaselessly forward, covering, however briefly, spectacular high mountain scenery in a stunning display of endurance.
