Erkki Punttila decided to sell all of his possessions and decided to move onto a sailboat. A dream many have had, though most people probably don’t imagine themselves sailing around Lapland, above the Arctic Circle, in Finland’s northernmost reaches. Punttila makes it look a bit like heaven.

The boating sure, beautiful, but the camping and biking and the northern lights, and the clear streams, and the morning coffee in a sparse cabin—that’s even more beautiful somehow.

“Enjoying a sunset with good coffee really beats having eight pairs of shoes you never wear and a metric ton of random stuff around you,” says Punttila about his deep dive into minimalism. Sounds pretty dang good to us.
