Winding nearly 160 miles from Fruita, Colorado, to Moab, Utah, the Kokopelli Trail is a classic bikepacking route. Dry, rocky, challenging, and beautiful, loaded with red rock canyon, desert scrubland, punishing climbs, and thrilling descents. There are some pavement sections, and graded dirt roads, but it’s mostly singletrack or doubletrack, with stunning, wide-open views.
This short film from Manual Pedal follows two cyclists as they board a train in NYC and unbox their rides in Colorado, before setting out to complete the iconic ride. The film is sparse and minimalist, with mostly the sound of the gravel crunching beneath tires, a bit of wind, and just the right amount of narration. A beautiful diversion. Don’t mind if we do.
