Packraftin’ the Rio Grande Looks a Bit Like Heaven

For an adventurous good time just add whitewater. And packrafts.

Still a few weeks of summer left, so still plenty of time for daydreaming about floating down a desert canyon-spanning river, like, say, the Rio Grande. Heck, there’s plenty of time to daydream about floating down rivers all year long, actually.

This charming little video called “Borderland” by Colin Arisman will have you breaking out a hydrological map of your favorite still-hot region to plot your next watery adventure. Paddling, a bit of whitewater, freshly-caught fish, maybe some side canyon exploring, sleeping next to a fire’s embers with a galaxy of stars whirling overhead—what could possibly be better?

fun stuff! we use canoes out here in the east, they can carry 100s of pounds so a huge ice chest and iron frying pans is no big deal. we see tons of wildlife floating silently down a river too
