None less than Kelly Slater is saying that last weekend’s swell at Cloudbreak in Fiji “will never be forgotten.” Others are saying it might the biggest swell to pound Tavarua. Either way, and whatever your measuring stick, it was an astounding bit of showmanship at one of the world’s premier spot.

“Just take a second and process this,” wrote Slater of the wave above. “@surfnavarro kicked out right next to me and all I could do was give him a big hug. Today will never be forgotten. It was an honor to be in the presence of an ocean doing this. There is no better wave on this earth than #Cloudbreak.

“Hoping for some more tomorrow in Fiji. Wow is all I can say. I’m inspired and more excited than ever to see surfing where it’s at! I’m calling at least 1 Billion people on this earth should have witnessed what went down today. This stuff is like people going to the moon…by tomorrow people will say it didn’t happen. ”
