Tom has worked at a Patagonia store in the Bay Area for 20 years, riding the bus every day to spend a couple hours steaming clothes so they look good on the racks. This short film gives a small glimpse into what Tom means to the store and what the store means to Tom, without dramatizing his challenges or turning saccharine. It doesn’t provide too many details about Tom himself, unfortunately, but filmmaker Alex Frankel has been a friend of his for nearly 30 years and wanted to protect his privacy. Tom, as many of us would be, had mixed feelings about having the camera turned on him, and, Frankel says, “He can be one stubborn dude!”

Wow, 20 years, I am curious as to angel that saw Tom for what he is and was smart enough to hire him….

This is absolutely the Video of the Day…or Week…or even Month.

Yet another reason to love Patagonia – and no, I don’t work for them.
