The first pictures I ever saw of the North Shore of Vancouver, back in the earliest years of the 1990s, were from John Gibson, who has been chronicling the B.C. riding scene as well or better than anyone for more than two decades. Gibby’s photos never feel voyeuristic, rather, they are connected, the photographer (and thus you), an integral part of the experience, with a visceral sense of being there all too rare in action photography. It’s impressive in one photo, it’s astounding when it’s your entire body of work.
