This…is…awesome. From the beginning on sheer ice to the mesmerizing driving of hyperspace to a time lapse of an eclipsing moon, photographer Ben Chase has stitched together a video that hints of David Lynch while exploring adventure in the northern night. He calls it “Surreal Journey,” and while it’s not quite truly surreal, it’s hypnotic and beautiful, with a bit of quirk and some humor thrown in. Full screen mandatory.

Beautiful work! What camera were you using for the time-lapse?

Thank you for the kind words!

All HD footage & time lapse was captured with the 5D Mark II, with much of it using the Zeiss Distagon 21mm f/2.8 ZE.

I’m pleased to announce that this video has been featured in today’s issue of The Daily under “Best of the West” here: http://www.thedaily.com/page/2012/04/01/040112-news-time-lapse-surreal-journey-page/
