Ad agency copywriter Guillaume Blanchet spent 382 days riding his bike in all seasons in Montreal shooting with a GoPro camera the dozens of scenes in this three-minutes-of-awesomeness film. The film is dedicated to his father, who has ridden more than 120,000 km (about 75,000 miles) on his bike.
The Man Who Lived On His Bike comes from a man who has a serious love for his bike, but the film will make your day because it’s anything but serious. The music at first belies the goofiness of our hero’s journey, which is the true gift of the film: Among other things, a Rubik’s cube, frying eggs in a pan, and serenading a girl with his violin. Also, I’m pretty sure he rides through Occupy Montreal/Occupons Montreal at one point.
Guillaume also uploaded the film to YouTube, where he says “some people were asking ‘where I took a s#$@’ or saying it was a fake to spend 382 days on a bike in a row, sleeping for instance.” Patrons of YouTube, please allow me to introduce to you the concept of a metaphor.
