You don’t know John Van Hamersveld, but you know his art. The Endless Summer poster. Hendrix with electric hair. The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour and Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street album covers. Van Hamersveld has been creating iconic American art for 50 years — first in the surfing world in the 1960s, when he worked with John Severson on the early years of Surfer Magazine, and later, of course, in music.
In this episode of Finding America, AJ’s Sinuhe Xavier takes a closer look at Van Hamesveld, who’s still relevant and kicking ass at age 70. Check it out.

Hammer was a very good surfer back in the day. He also was a very good swimmer. He won the “Cup” at the Palos Verdes Swim Club against a very good field (1959).
