BACK IN DECEMBER while the U.S. was getting pounded with snow, kayaker Rafa Ortiz and friend of AJ photographer Lucas Gilman were thrashing through the steaming narco-infested jungles of Mexico for Ortiz to drop 128-foot Big Banana Falls. They did, he did, and the result is this muy enferma shot. Now Lucas is going on NBC’s Today show on Monday to discuss this brief moment of badness. Be sure to check it out…or catch it on YouTube later.

Amazing photo! WOW!
I don’ t understand how these kayakers stay afloat while carrying around such gigantic BALLS!
I don’t understand why the weight of 115 feet of tumbling river does not kill them dead.
Tom,
While a drop of this size into a calm pool could kill you, dropping from this height into the intensely aerated water at the base of a waterfall can often be very soft.
