Ambitious, creative, and original, photographer Bridget Flemming’s Downtown From Behind project is documenting every one of 200-plus streets, boulevards, and roads below 14th Street in Manhattan, using a local resident or worker who embodies or has had an impact on their neighborhood. The clever twist is that she’s shooting them on their bikes, from behind, on the street. The genius is that she’s able to tease out her subjects’ personality, both roadway and bike rider, while avoiding the obvious.
The Daily Bike occasionally will offer selections from Downtown From Behind. This shot is on Center Street and features publicist Allison Beale.
Photo by Bridget Flemming, of course. See more here.
