Lindsey Vonn Poses As Sharon Stone in ‘Basic Instinct’

This new advertisement for Head skis stars features Lindsey Vonn and is refreshingly devoid of the gratuitous skin and sexuality that seems to pervade everything these days. But I’m not so sure it works. A minute and a half seems a long time to make a point easily told in 15 seconds. And is Vonn really “waiting for the world to catch up with her” — or is she trying to stay ahead of the world?

I know, picky picky.

Well, I was just about to post this little motion picture celebrating a female athlete for her athleticism (or impatience, as it were) over her appearance, when I came across Vonn’s new ESPN cover, where she’s dressed like Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct. At first, it seemed like a freakishly bad Photoshop fail, and it seemed that way at second glance, too. But it really is Vonn, who acknowledges, “This was basically my husband’s idea. But I have to admit, when I put on all the makeup and my hair is all ’90s style and I’ve got the white dress, I kinda do look like Sharon Stone.”

I suspect that with enough makeup, even Vonn’s husband could be make to look like Stone, but hey, I’m just sayin’.

The time to sell out is when there is a buyer… A wise man once said.

That video is complete garbage. Head obviously makes great skis but doesn’t have a clue in the story telling department. ESPN on the other hand, like all magazines, is there to exploit someones bad judgement to their gain.

Mixed on all of this, really. Skiing is never going to bring the money that the more commercial professional sports can. Plus, careers are quite short-lived, relatively speaking. Sure, it’s “kind of” embarrassing to see these women make decisions like this, but I don’t have as much of a problem with it when they’ve already proven they can compete at the top of their game. It’s not like she’s Anna Kournikova.

Rob, Head may suck in the story telling department, but that is why they hired an ad agency. It’s very possible those scenarios were pulled from actual instances in Vonn’s childhood. Dramatically enhanced of course. It’s actually not a bad run, but the pay off on the “feet angst” thing takes too long. It’s annoying up until the end.

I have a copy of this controversial Sharon Stone pose of Vonn in the Basic Instinct mag and I can say that it’s not that bad..Maybe she’s just trying to let the people see the other side of her. What side of her? Well, that I don’t know..any clue?

I love it! Lindsey is gorgeous! I wish more US female athlete had more personality. In Europe this would be no big deal. Since, they don’t make a big deal about beauty and sex. Here, people love violence but shun anything with sex.

Euro athletes also embrace having a little spotlight like this.

Anyways, Vonn is pretty cool!
