This new advertisement for Head skis
stars features Lindsey Vonn and is refreshingly devoid of the gratuitous skin and sexuality that seems to pervade everything these days. But I’m not so sure it works. A minute and a half seems a long time to make a point easily told in 15 seconds. And is Vonn really “waiting for the world to catch up with her” — or is she trying to stay ahead of the world?
I know, picky picky.
Well, I was just about to post this little motion picture celebrating a female athlete for her athleticism (or impatience, as it were) over her appearance, when I came across Vonn’s new ESPN cover, where she’s dressed like Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct. At first, it seemed like a freakishly bad Photoshop fail, and it seemed that way at second glance, too. But it really is Vonn, who acknowledges, “This was basically my husband’s idea. But I have to admit, when I put on all the makeup and my hair is all ’90s style and I’ve got the white dress, I kinda do look like Sharon Stone.”
I suspect that with enough makeup, even Vonn’s husband could be make to look like Stone, but hey, I’m just sayin’.
